As part of their annual December mini-retreat the Vigor Forum started the day at an indoor crossbow range. Surprisingly no one was injured, but one member did manage to break a bow (per forum confidentiality rules we can’t confirm if it was Ron Greenberg or not).
A limo then whisked the group to New York City for a tour of the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE). After going through 10 levels of security and making it to the stock exchange floor, the group learned about the history of the stock exchange. Did you know that pre-technology, 5,000 people were on the floor each day? Today, there are only 900 per day. The highlight was a 45-minute discussion on the floor with Duncan Neiderauer, president of the NYSE. The stock exchange floor ended with another 45 minutes with Mary Ann Bartels, the highest-ranking female at Merrill Lynch (her stock tip – Porsche – no guarantees!). The group ended the NYSE tour with a quick stop at the stock exchange bar for a beer.
No “mini-retreat” is complete without a nightcap, thus a trip to Agave, New York’s world class tequilas bar for a three-hour tasting of some of the rarest and most prestigious tequilas in the world (per confidentiality rules, we cannot confirm or deny that Mike Michalowicz got drunk and sang like a sappy girl, crying “I love you guys” the entire way home)
The great news for everyone else in EO New Jersey is our Merrill Lynch hosts invited other forums to also take the tour. If you are interested in a tour, contact Larry Prager.
