Learn How to Harness Personality to Drive Increased Profitability with a Free Predictive Index® Assessment

Tuesday, July 29, Augur Inc. Founder and CEO Kathleen Frank will discuss with EO members how their Predictive Index® (PI) assessment impacts how they run their business. The time and location are to be determined. Topics discussed will include how each leader can optimize their strengths and more effectively manage their weaknesses, increase productivity of employees and decrease turnover through better hiring and targeted management.

All EO members attending this meeting will be invited to complete the PI survey checklist, which will take no more than 10-15 minutes to complete. The deadline for completing the PI Checklist is July 14. To receive the survey, email accesspi@piwebservices.com.

EO New Jersey Participates in America’s Grow-a-Row

EO New Jersey is proud to serve at America’s Grow-a Row, an organization that grows and gleans fresh, healthy produce that is then donated to food pantries, soup kitchens, crisis centers, and food banks all over the state of New Jersey. EO New Jersey members are meeting at Peaceful Valley Orchards Farm, 150 Pittstown Road in Pittstown, N.J. at 9 a.m. Monday, Aug. 11 to participate (add to calendar).

There will be an introduction to America’s Grow-a-Row, including history, vision and business insight. We will be harvesting from 10 a.m. to noon. Please eat breakfast prior to your arrival. Please make sure to bring a filled reusable water bottle, sunscreen and/or a hat, bug spray, gloves if you have them, and dress appropriately for the weather and to get dirty! We will pick in the rain and maybe wait out thunderstorms if appropriate.

EO New Jersey Hosts The Art and Science of Collection

EO New Jersey is hosting The Art and Science of Collection, which will cover setting terms, collecting and what you need to know to get paid. The event is at noon on June 5 at Withum Smith & Brown in Morristown (add to calendar). This exclusive panel event will discuss:

  • Setting terms and collection with Fortune 500 Companies
  • Collecting from a customer who declares bankruptcy
  • Creative ways to collect while keeping relationships intact
  • Knowing when to call a collection agency or attorney for help
  • Ways to mitigate risk of delinquent payments through better cash flow management

Panelists will include Chris DeMayo, Kurt Olender, Anna Walz and Alex Zaltsman.

EO New York Invites EO New Jersey Members to Exclusive Family Event

EO New York has invited EO New Jersey members to a weekend sleep-away camp—EO style. Come join fellow EO families for sleep-away retreat in the Berkshires where kids and adults will enjoy an amazing camp experience. There will be family time as well as separate “kid” and “adult” time so each can fully experience camp EO style.

Arrive Friday for a great dinner in moose lodge, check into your own private cabin, then split into kid and adult activities before joining for a campfire.

Saturday starts early with a delicious breakfast and then choose your own sessions with options including:

  • Rock climbing (two levels)
  • Water skiing
  • Kayak
  • Shoot hoops
  • Dance
  • Campfire

The night starts with a fabulous dinner and then TWO separate cocktail hours (one for kids and one for adults) each with age appropriate beverages, supervision and entertainment. The night wraps with taps and lights out at midnight.

Get Ready for Jersey Jack Pinball and a Beach Party

EO New Jersey is kicking off the summer with a family event. The two-part event starts at Jersey Jack Pinball at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 31 (add to calendar).  At Jersey Jack Pinball, EO members and their families will learn how to design and make a pinball machine from scratch and play in a pinball tournament. Jersey Jack Pinabll was founded by veteran arcade industry figure Jack Guarnieri: click here to learn more about Jack. Jersey Jack Pinball is located at 1645 Oak St. in Lakewood, N.J. Lunch will be provided.

The second part of the day is a beach party at EO New Jersey member Scott Weintraub’s beach house (60 Inlet Terrace, Belmar, N.J.) from 2:30 to 9 p.m. (add to calendar). Dinner and drinks will be provided. There will be a pool and beach house activities. For GPS, use either 60 Inlet Terrace or 66 Inlet Terrace (which requires you to cross a foot bridge to get to 60 Inlet Terrace). Parking is on one side of the street. Please bring your towels and swimsuits.

Gaining Power in Negotiation Through Incredible Preparation

EO New Jersey will host a half-day workshop presented by Marty Finkle, CEO of Scotwork Negotiating Skills, at 8 a.m. Wednesday, May 14 at the Eisenhower Corporate Center (add to calendar). This dynamic workshop will give you practical tips on preparation and will help you: gain power even with much larger companies, understand and communicate your needs, communicate and propose your solutions, and trade for better outcomes for you and your company. The workshop works with suppliers, buyers, owners, executives operations and sales people or whoever trades anything across your organization. When negotiating agreements this workshop will help you gain better, timelier results inside and outside your organization.

Through stories, real world examples and a live negotiation case play, you will gain strategic insights for bringing new value and better negotiated outcomes to your organization and to you personally.

Event Recap: The Business of Football

EO New Jersey and EO New York teamed up to host “The Business of Football” at The Chart House in Weehawken, N.J. A total of 122 people attended the event. You can see a video recap here.

The event scored high on satisfaction with an 8.7 overall satisfied score. The venue scored a 9.3 and the speakers scored an 8.6.

Brandon Steiner, CEO of Steiner Sports, presented on selling sports and received great comments. Attendees thought his presentation was relevant with great content. Steiner shared his true business success story that was both inspiring and engaging.

Other feedback was also positive. Attendees thought Jamal Lewis, a former NFL running back, was authentic and funny. One EO-er wrote that Ted Sundquist, former general manager of the Denver Broncos, related sports to business well.

Overall, attendees most enjoyed the variety of speakers and the interesting topic. The business/football integration was a unique subject for both EO New Jersey and EO New York.
