DESCRIPTION:The EONJ 2024 Adventure Hike will take you on the scenic Pochuck Boardwalk\, continuing on the Appalachian Trail to the Stairway To Heaven with views at Pinwheel Vista. We will park in the lot at the trailhead for Stairway to Heaven\, carpool over to Pochuck boardwalk (limited parking). Our hike begins on the flat and easy boardwalk\, continues over a suspension bridge and through fields where it comes out by the Stairway to Heaven parking where we started (~2.2mi). From there we continue up the short 1.3 mile but increasingly steep and rocky climb to the top with scenic views as the payoff. From there we do the 1.3 mi hike back down to the cars. About 4.8mi in total. Those not up for the STH climb can opt to do just the first part. Overlooking NY harbor and downtown Manhattan\, A FerryHawk game is part circus and part festival\, all while a baseball game is played! \nOur chapter will be meeting up at 4:15 to catch the 4:30 Ferry\ntogether out of Battery Park. The stadium is right on the water next\nto the ferry terminal on Staten Island. \nThe gates open at 5:30. Everyone who arrives then will be brought on the field for a group picture. \n6:30 is game time! A full firework display sets off at 9:15 following the game. Expect to catch the 10 or 10:30 ferry back unless we go into extra innings. \n\nTickets are $14.20 through this link for our dedicated Field Level section\, and at checkout there is an option to add discounted meal vouchers that include a choice of a Nathan’s hot dog or chicken tenders\, chips\, and a soft drink or bottled water! DESCRIPTION:Dive deep into the heart of Mexico during the 2023 EO Mexico Exploration. Feel the strong sense of pride\, perseverance and gratitude of the Mexican people. Among many things that make the region’s people special\, they celebrate with vibrant festivals\, honor the living and the dead\, fight passionately for their rights and spread color and kindness everywhere they go. The region is experiencing a cultural resurgence as the younger generations are reviving the indigenous traditions\, seen as exotic and romantic. \nIn Oaxaca\, ancient rituals have survived like nowhere else in Mexico\, and yet modernity is ever-present\, with chic hotels\, foodie restaurants and grungy cocktail bars scattered across the city. While staying in the center of the city\, we will learn some of the lessons of the past while weaving in modern Oaxaca. We will meet local designers and artists elevating the style of Oaxaca and young entrepreneurs who are reinventing their centuries old crafts. We’ll taste the fusion of old and new during dine arounds\, at a mole tasting and al fresco at a modern\, female owned agave farm. \nContinuing on to Mérida\, we’ll marvel at some of the best ruins and cenotes in the world. We’ll visit with some of the rural villagers\, to cook\, play and dance with them before dining in candle light at one of the New Seven Wonders of the World\, Chichén Itzá. We’ll indulge in the warm sunshine while horseback riding\, hiking and swimming.
