Yesterday, members of EO New Jersey (EONJ) gathered at the Park Ave. Club for a high-impact learning event: Culture as a Competitive Edge: Success Cheat Codes. The session brought together more than 20 entrepreneurs and leaders to explore one of the most critical—and often overlooked—drivers of sustainable business growth: company culture.
The afternoon opened with Dr. Zach Johnson, a former tenured professor and associate dean, who unpacked the academic and research-backed foundations of culture as a performance driver. His session connected the dots between organizational behavior theory and real-world leadership challenges, helping members see why culture is more than just “soft skills”—it’s a proven growth lever.
Next, Tiffany Slowinski led an engaging two-hour workshop using the Culture Index survey, a validated platform that helps leaders identify team strengths, blind spots, and growth opportunities. Each participant walked away with personalized insights into how their team dynamics either accelerate—or stall—their ability to execute strategy.
The program closed with Scott Peloquin, who highlighted how culture is reinforced through innovative and foundational benefits. From flexible perks to comprehensive wellness packages, Scott demonstrated how the right support systems sustain high-performing teams and strengthen retention.
The event’s impact was clear: members left energized, empowered, and equipped with actionable data to take back to their organizations. As one participant noted, “Building culture isn’t a one-time initiative—it’s a daily discipline.”
Events like this exemplify what makes Entrepreneurs’ Organization unique. By combining peer-to-peer learning with expert-led workshops, EO New Jersey continues to provide its members with practical tools to scale their businesses while creating thriving workplace cultures.
Culture as a Competitive Edge reminded us that strategy may set the direction, but culture determines the speed and sustainability of growth.
